Warwick Court Bloomsbury, London

8 Warwick Court is an extensive renovation of a Grade II listed property in the London Borough of Camden, immediately adjacent to Grays Inn Gardens and close to the boundary of the City of London. The building originally housed offices which were arranged over lower ground to third floors. Marek Wojciechowski Architects were appointed to obtain a change of use from office use to residential to deliver five apartments (three two-bedroomed units, one three-bedroom unit and one studio) within the envelope of the existing property.

The building was transformed through enlarging the existing rear closet wing extension to accommodate a new lift and new residential floor space. This increased the size of the property and improved the quality of the new apartments. The new rear extension allowed the addition of new fenestration to all levels assisting with levels of daylight internally. The historic plan form was protected and reinvented, with a new roof and terrace added to the extended third floor level.

MWA worked closely in conjunction with our conservation consultants and London Borough of Camden to ensure that the character and history of the heritage property was protected and enhanced.
