The Brickworks for MHA Associates stands on a key approach to Slough Station where the planned arrival of the Cross rail in 2018 is expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing regeneration of the area. When complete, the Brickworks will provide 114 apartments and 1 for 1 parking across 112,500 sq.ft of high quality private and affordable housing transforming this previously industrial site.
The massing and materiality of the building was inspired by the desire of the client to create a garden square in a densely built-up part of the town.
Textured exteriors with private balconies overlook amenity space. A concierge building marks the point of entrance and houses the vertical circulation onto the site.
The exterior brick varieties derive from research into the types and colours of the bricks originally crafted on the site.
