Strip out investigations have started this week at our new project on Hamilton Terrace. MWA have recently been appointed to reimagine a semi-detached villa located within the St John’s Wood Conservation area. The property is an unlisted building of merit, which has not been re-developed in over four decades.
The proposal aims to celebrate the building’s historic features, hierarchies, and proportions while providing suitable spaces to meet the requirements of a modern family. The project brief includes a refurbishment to the existing house, and the addition of a contemporary rear extension to consolidate the rear façade, which has eroded over the course of the 20th century due to numerous additions. The project is currently at the pre-planning stage as the team explore design ideas, in conversation with Westminster City Council, to ensure the proposal enhances the surrounding conservation area, and provides a positive contribution.
