MWA have prepared a pre-application for a four storey new-build family home over basement, ground, first and second floors. A thorough analysis of the local vernacular and prevailing materials within the Fitzjohns/Netherhall Conservation Area was conducted to inform the design of our proposals. The overall massing is derived from the heights of the immediate context where our proposal mediates between the site’s two neighbouring properties and follows the gradation of the street. A palette of waterstruck brickwork, portland stone, oak window frames and slate roof tiles is proposed to ensure the building sits harmoniously within its historic setting.
